The Cape Fear Color Guard, Winterguard or "Auxilliary", is both an athletic competition and a form of art that mixes modern dance/ballet and uses props traditionally including rifles, flags and sabres. - into an intensive choreographed visual performance. Winter Guard International (WGI) serves as the leading governing body of the winter guard and indoor percussion activities. It is called the "Sport of the Arts" because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format.
