The Cape Fear High School Wind Ensemble  - This group is comprised of students who perform at a very high level. Music performed is graded level V and VI. Admission to this group is rewarded through a successful audition of the High School All-State audition requirements and solo. Students are required to prepare themselves to audition for The Cumberland All-County Band and Southeast All-District Band. This class is offered in The Fall and Spring Semesters.

The Cape Fear High School Concert Band  - This group is comprised of many talented students who are growing and developing as young musicians. Music performed by this group is graded level III and IV. Students in this class are required to know the Middle School All-State audition requirements and solo. This class is offered in the Fall and Spring semesters.

The Cape Fear High School Stage Band - This group is comprised of The Most Advanced Musicians at Cape Fear High School. Students learn to play jazz, pop and rock music and are also given the opportunity to express themselves through improvisation. Students must be enrolled in either the Wind Ensemble or Concert Band in order to take this class. This class is offered for the spring semester only.

The Cape Fear High School Guard Class - This class is designed to give students who do not play an instrument an opportunity to be a part of the Cape Fear High School Band Program. Students learn the basic skills to perform with the flag, rifle and saber. Students are selected through audition and are required to participate in every function of the Cape Fear High School Marching Band. This class is offered for the fall semester only.

The Cape Fear High School Marching Colts - This group is the most visual and well-known ambassador of Cape Fear High School and the Cape Fear High School Band Program. This group performs for thousands of fans at football games, parades and band competitions. Students are taught the importance of responsibility, discipline and a strong work ethic. They are given opportunities to assume roles of leadership and are taught the benefits of making good life choices. ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A BAND CLASS AT CAPE FEAR HIGH SCHOOL ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAPE FEAR MARCHING COLTS unless they participate in a fall sport at Cape Fear High School.

 

AP Music Theory - This class offers the serious music student the opportunity to learn about all aspects of Western Music, ranging from harmony, analysis, and composition. The concepts presented in this course are the inner workings of all music and serve to open up the musical intellect and aesthetic appreciation of this wonderful art form.
